IHE Japan Connectathon Week 2026

IHE Japan Connectathon Week 2026

We are pleased to announce that IHE Japan will hold IHE Japan Connectathon Week 2026 in the week of October 19th!

The IHE-J Connectathon is a valuable opportunity to conduct actual connection tests between various products that implement the IHE profiles (with Japanese extension).

This year, in addition to the traditional integrated profile that supports basic clinical workflows, we will also be testing profiles that utilize HL7® FHIR® for information sharing, which have been added in recent years, and profiles that perform RESTful image communication.

We look forward to the participation of many vendors. Furthermore, as in the previous year, we will be holding an International Plug-a-thon again this year, and we plan to provide a venue for trial connection tests of FHIR® IPS (International Patient Summary) and other technologies with the participation of foreign vendors, including those from Taiwan, South Korea and other countries.

We hope that many people will participate and experience global healthcare information sharing!

(2) Venue : Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center TAITO-KAN, 6th Floor, Exhibition Hall / 8,9th Floor, Meeting rooms
(3) Overview of Plugathon :

Unlike Connectathon, Plugathon is a venue for experimental connections targeting unreleased profiles currently being developed by IHE, or profiles that are TI (Trial Implementation) and have limited implementation experience, rather than verification using IHE profiles.

Engineers from relevant vendors and IHE personnel will gather to share experiences and use cases, discuss implementation methods, and conduct trial connectivity testing at the Connectathon venue. Therefore, there will be no pass/fail judgments or public announcements like in Connectathon, but participants will be able to acquire information on the latest profiles and actually perform connectivity testing.

Another objective is to provide feedback on profiles and request IHE to consider them as implementation requirements.

This event is a joint project with Taiwan and South Korea and is an international event. Participation from foreign vendors, including Taiwan and South Korea, is expected, and even IPS (International Patient Summary), which is still relatively unfamiliar in Japan, will be facilitated by Taiwan, which already has experience in connectivity testing.

This will be a valuable opportunity, and we look forward to many people participating! (Please note that all conversations will be in English.)
